FAQ – Winter vacation in the Pension Margarete

My arrival
Do I need snow chains to get there?
Basically, it makes sense to bring snow chains with you in the Alps in winter. The driveway to our house can be difficult to reach for cars with two-wheel drive in heavy snowfall. In this case, the use of snow chains is necessary.
Pay attention to the information boards on the street (chains are mandatory) and install the snow chains in good time if necessary!
Is there a parking place?
We have free parking spaces in front of the house for our guests. Please park your vehicle so that you do not obstruct other vehicles and leave as much space as possible for other guests!
I arrive early (before 12 noon)
If your room is ready for occupancy before 12 noon, you are welcome to check in – just ask when you arrive! You can of course park your car and go skiing in the meantime. If possible, please leave luggage in the car as we have limited storage space.
I am arriving late / my arrival is delayed
Please let us know if you will be arriving after 8 p.m. or if your arrival is unexpectedly delayed. This way we can be sure that you will still come and that your room will not be rented out at short notice!
Skis and equipment
Where do I put my skis?
You can store skis and ski boots in our ski room. Please do not go up the stairs or into the room in your ski boots! The ski room is locked in the evening.
Where can I get lift tickets?
You can get all ski tickets at the main ticket office of the Schmittenhöhebahn. This is only a few meters away from our house. You can also order the lift tickets online at:

Ski rental:
There are two ways to rent skis and boots in our immediate neighborhood. We recommend Bründl Sports Schmitten, right at the valley station of the cable cars. Ski school:
We recommend the Zell am See ski school , directly behind the Sonnenalmbahn building, or the SportAlpin ski school , right next to our house.
During my stay
Restaurants:
We only offer our rooms with breakfast. In the immediate vicinity is the Gartenhotel Daxer, where you can enjoy the half-board menu for an extra fee.
We also recommend “Flo’s Restaurant” in the Landhotel Martha, which is only a 10-minute walk from us. The “Schmittental” guesthouse, about 1 km away, also has a very good restaurant.
You will find numerous restaurants in the center of Zell. We would be happy to give you recommendations on site based on your preferences.
Bar:
We look forward to you having a drink in our lounge after skiing. We are there for you from 4 p.m. and serve hot and cold drinks. In the evening we close our bar at around 10:30 p.m.
Breakfast :
Our breakfast buffet is available from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. For a surcharge, you can have breakfast on the day of your arrival, even if your rooms are probably not ready for occupancy at that time!
My departure:
I’m leaving early
Please let us know if you would like to leave before 7am. We then adjust the entrance door so that you can leave at any time – but not back. Please do not forget to leave your key at reception or in your room and please pay your bill the day before!
I’m leaving later / I’m still going skiing
In principle, the rooms must be vacated by 10 a.m. on the day of departure. If you would like to go skiing on the last day, you are welcome to leave your car in our parking lot. Please point this out to us! If you still want to shower or change clothes after skiing, please let us know – we may be able to provide our sauna for you.
